This year the exhibition will be based in one central venue, the Old School Rooms – Assembly Hall of St Michael & St Johns, 43 Lowergate, Clitheroe, BB71AD
The Clitheroe Contemporary 2025 Open Exhibition is open to amateur, professional and student fine artists. From age 11 +
Any type of 2D fine art can be submitted
Work can be: 2D up to a max. of 180cm (H) and must be mirror plated or strung ready to be hung.
Each applicant may submit up to a total of two works, all of which may or may not be selected, as display space is limited.
Work selected must be available for dropping off on Monday 14th or Tuesday 15th July between 11am – 8pm, at the Old School Rooms – Assembly Hall of St Michael & St Johns, 43 Lowergate, Clitheroe (need postcode) free parking on the Lowergate carpark after 6pm.
Pieces cannot be substituted after being selected. We reserve the right not to display work, which has been damaged in transit, is not professionally mounted/presented or does not meet expectations of quality on arrival.
Apply online by the deadline of 5pm Monday the 30th June, fill in the form and upload your JPEG images. A selection panel will view all the applications digitally on Wednesday the 2nd July from the images you upload, (not the actual pieces) entrants will be notified by 5pm Sunday 6th July.
All work entered must be available for sale. The price you state on the entry form must be the wholesale/artist price (without commission) This is so that we know the value for insurance purposes.
A 25% commission will be added to all wholesale prices to achieve the for-sale price, artists must agree that for any sales the 25% commission will be taken by Clitheroe Contemporary festival for use in supporting local artist and art events in the area.
Entrants pay an entry fee of £10. This is a single fee, whether you have 0, 1 or 2 artworks accepted. Young people aged 11 – 18 are free. Clitheroe Contemporary Members pay a discounted rate – follow this link to see how to become a member.

6th All entrants will be notified by email of the panel’s decisions
14 & 15 Artists drop off their selected artworks Monday & Tuesday, between 10am – 8pm, at the Assembly Hall at the Old School Rooms
16 – 18th Set up Open Exhibition
18th Friday evening VIP Opening of the Festival, times to be confirmed
19 & 20th Exhibition and Event open to the public, times to be confirmed
20th Quiet hour, time to be confirmed
20th Winners announcement, time to be confirmed
21st Artists notified of sold work by 12pm
21 & 22nd Artists to collect unsold work Monday 1pm – 8pm & Tuesday, between 11am – 8pm, at the Assembly Hall at the Old School Rooms
23 – 25th Festival Award Winners Exhibition, to be confirmed
